Has anybody got any real world driving experience of the comparison.

I know there is 30bhp and 100 nM torque differences ...

the difference is if the 220 had a remap it would drive close to the 250 but no substitute for the 500nm.when there is 4 adults on board , cant imagine what the 250 with a remap would go like.

Brief experiences here.....I have the 250 in our C and the 220 in our E.....I've done 10k miles in the C but not been allowed much in the E!! I think the 220 is definitely less gruff..and really doesn't seem that sluggish...but the 250 goes really well!!

I test drove them both (w204) and found a noticable but not huge difference in poke under hard accelleration. In the end I opted for the 250 cdi. As for economy, I don't use the loud pedal often so really dout whether there would be any meaningful difference between the two.

Hello all, I have just purchased a shiny new e220 sport. Can't wait for delivery day!

The older 220CDi I would say is way under powered for a CLK and will be worse on something like an E-Class. I found it to be very sluggish before my remap.

I am getting well above the 230BHP mark in mine (can't get an exact figure because it keeps kicking down the gear when on a rolling road).

have you had it on the dyno with those figures. pretty impressive if so for a 220 .

I have tried to on a Dyno but because of the auto gearbox when it gets to a certain point the gear kicks down so does not give a maximum figure.

I am not too technical on how Dyno's measure the maximum BHP but I know they tried to 5/6 times.
