Just had a scoot around some old posts and I'm a little confused about this.

Now if I have understood this correctly, this is the dipping Passenger Mirror when you are in reverse. Now...... I haven't got memory seats, and from reading about I thought this wouldn't be available?
Secondly, it also doesn't seem to work - so have I completely got myself confused!

220 is Parktronic

The dipping feature is only with memory seats and only works providing the near side mirror button in engaged or selected

If i'm correct its something that is normally coded by STAR with memory seats. While MB does not do this the system can be programmed to do it.

I think there are a few other things they can do as well like get the temperature on the Instrument panel and enable Tyre Pressure Sensors and so on..

I am tempted, but am not near any of the guys who seem to know what they are doing and am not willing to let someone I don't trust loose.

Well that is strange then.... :(

Do you think if I took it back to the dealer they would fit it for me because it is meant to be there! :D

Definitely no sensors or switch!

Was the VIN number exact as I do not get the colour of the seats either it is wrong, and you do not get them with a blue inside.

It is hard to see from your seat picture are they dark grey/black

Jadefox, PM me your chassis number, and I will look it up in EPCnet online (i.e absolutely up to date parts catalog)

Have you had the car from new ?

Richard

[edit, the data in that online site is now very out of date. 527 is comand aps, 386 is phone. CD changer no longer made by Alpine. The dats is just when the optioncode was put into the database]

Just as an aside, in 1993 (which is the date referred to in the code and title of this thread), there was no Parktronic system based on ultrasound as we know it today. The only Mercs that had a parking aid were the W140 s-class, who in those days had two rods that would rise up when in reverse to help see the end of the car:

Parktronic was introduced, also on the W140, in April 1995.

Cool, the same benefit as the star on the front of the car then!! :D Just need a couple of pencils for the back and I'll be sortwed then ;)

My dad designed a parking aid with a head-up display back in the early 70's.

I was a cork on a bit of string, hanging from the garage ceiling. When the cork touched the windscreen directly in your line of sight, you stopped. :D

I guess you could kind of incorporate a similar design in reverse. Just net a fishing rod type arrangement on the back of the car
