5 months of ownership and you don't know how to check oil , how to add ad blue or keep tyres inflated. Unbelievable....

Not everyone is mechanically-minded.... ?

Possibly the combination of above is precisely what led them to this forum....?

Elvis possibly on the moon .................. 😁................ ?

Seriously though women can take a Dyson hoover apart to clean , men can't!! But when it comes to cars they just add fuel and drive . 😁

if I find the adblue tank, how much do I pour in - 1 litre, 2 litres…?

The AdBlue tank typically takes around ~20-22L, which should last for around 10,000 miles of driving. It is being topped-up during servicing, and unless the car does a lot of miles between services, owners don't usually need to fill-up with AdBlue themselves.

(BTW, I believe that the AdBlue tank is also being completely emptied and refilled every other service)

That said, and not wishing to cause undue alarm, a failed sensor is a common fault that sadly may nesseciate the replacement of the entire AdBlue tank unit. Given that your car is still within the 6 months statutory warranty period, I would take it back to the dealer it was bought from, and ask them to top it up for you. They might charge a bit more, but you'll get the reassurance of knowing that if anything turns out to be a miss, they'll need to fix it FOC.

I have found the tank in my boot and lifted the top lid to reveal another cap that will just not budge. Is it a simple twist n turn setup or some other method? I need to know before I try and force it as I don’t want to break it.

I assume the only way to know if it’s a legit warning or a system fail is to top up in increments and see if the warning light goes off?

I can’t take it back to the dealer as they’re in Aberdeen and I’m in Manchester so it’s the worst case scenario of needing a new tank, what is the expected cost?

I’ll take a pic of the springs shortly.

My suggestion was only a precaution and there's no indication at current that anything is at fault, it may indeed be a simple case of the selling dealer not topping-up the AdBlue when servicing the car before selling it (assuming they did service the car).

The cost of repair varies greatly, a dealer will be asking £1,000-£1,500, an independent specialist much less, also there are second hand tanks to buy on eBay for £400-£600, and some specialists might be able to replace just the sensor (though this is not commonly done) - but let's not jump the gun on this one.............

Also, I am not sure how to fill-up with AdBlue on the C207, but some models will have a small blue cap next to the fuel filler cap, for AdBlue - check to see if your car has this.

On other models you have to plug the AdBlue bottle into the AdBlue tank in the boot for the valve to open and the fluid to flow from the bottle into the tank.

Thanks got your help. Good to know the costs aren’t too exorbitant.

Ok so I filled up 13 litres - all before anyone posted a video - and the warning sign has gone off so hopefully that’s sorted now.

Here is a pic of the snapped seat-release. The steel thing on the right of the pic should be attached to the lever I’ve pulled out but instead it’s snapped and retracted as far back as it can go.
