270cdi auto issue

hi i have a 2000,210 chassis e270cdi with auto/tip lately i have noticed that it is reving a little to high when changing gear,i though i might do a oil change but as there is 170mls on it and dont know if it was ever changed i was told that it might do more harm than good putting in fresh oil anyone have experience of this problem?

I'm not an engineer, but from reading many posts I would think an ATF change would be the best start.
