hi guys im new here but currently own a 2006 56 chrysler 300c 3.0 v6 crdi and it has a knocking noise from the drivers side cam area it sounds like its getting no oil but the oil is there and the pump along with pressure is all good and plenty there ive tried changing and flushing oil and still the same the car starts and drives like it should no hesitation or no smoke just this knocking noise i know the engines are the same in the mercedes i have asked this question on the 300c forum and no one has replied hence ive come to the mercedes forum the noise is coming from the drivers side head and sounds terrible any ideas from any one would be aprechiated
thanks guys i just dont want to spend 2500 on a new engine as it runs perfect and has no other running issues
cheers guys

Can you post an audio link of the knock?

An injector fault?

hi mate i dont know how i would do that im not very good on the computers i do have it on my phone i can try upload it from there im basicly about to end up scrapping the car im lossing paitence with it thanks for the reply

I could email it to you and it runs perfect it's not an injector there all good

Noises from this engine are common, and are usually less noisy when the engine is warmed up. Personally I would take the car to a Mercedes independent workshop if this noise is that bad and you are confident that there is oil getting to the bearings under pressure.
If you are anywhere near Northampton/Leicester I can recommend a couple.

I'm in teeside area I have had a word with a few places they quoted me 2500 to take engine out and replace the chain which I know it's not that is there any issue with cam shaft bearings wearing out or tappets wearing
I don't want to give it to them to be hot with a big bill I will end up scrapping it an cut my losses it stays the same noise even when warm

If it runs well and you're thinking of scrapping it then you might as well just keep running it as it is until it eventually (or not) dies

It takes 4 hours to replace the chain ( and that's with a cup of tea in between )
And it's done in situe!

I cannot stand the bulls... Some garage folk tell their punters !
