I would never buy anything that I thought was stolen because I wouldn't want anyone to profit from theft. You can just see an E36 in the background of another of his auctions. If his story checks out (maybe the oil pump went or something) then it could be a good buy.
I think E36 manifolds are the same as E320 ones.
It would be interesting to try it on an E320 block. I'm sure the AMG cams would increase top end power without affecting things lower down. I wonder if the standard ECU would supply enough fuel to match it though?
I think I've heard of at least one or two 3.6 AMG engines with damaged bottom ends.
There was a C36 for sale before where the engine was in bits and the head was in the boot, and I think Aka$h had a spare '36 engine which had low compression on one cylinder.
When I was looking at turbo'ing the 3.6 I was told the higher lift cams were not a good thing, not entirely sure why but it was the chap next to mercman with the 3.6 supercharged 190e that told me that.
And for the record the bottom end was not bored out on the 3.6, the increased displacement came from the 350SDL diesel crankshaft. The crank is available at around £600 from MB, but the pistons were also upgraded to drop forged ones. The fact is the AMG heads were CNC'd not cast, they are far stronger than the standard 320 head, I very much doubt anyone with a 36 will need the head.
