Car
No longer a Benz...
I've had my ML63 for 3 months ish now and have covered 5k miles.... So what can I say about it.

It's everything I want in a car, I got bored with the 911's as they had no real toys and I like my creature comforts, things were also getting dangerous driving them with my dodgy legs..... The ML is fully loaded with all the toys anyone could want. The interior is very comfortable with everthing easy to hand, the cooling seats I use allot... The kids love the heated rears, and the HK system sounds amazing especially with the new retrofitted DAB setup comand.co.uk installed.

Other than the 2 (i think) others on this forum I have not seen another on the road since I've had it and I like that it's "different" I can load it with all sorts of stuff or have four adults loaded and its still delivers the speed and comfort.

You can drive it like a nun and it's a pleasure to drive, drop a few gears and it takes off, it's exceedingly quick for a 2.5 tonne 4x4, holds the road very well and keeps up with the best of the performance cars...

To be honest I think it's my best car to date and I've had a few... It sounds awesome after my exhaust mod and when it's clean it gets the looks even when parked up...*

It's here to stay for a while.....

Baldy, glad u got the porkers out of your system and have resulted in a sensible choice, its a lovely machine you have there and would be top of my list if i didnt have what i have at the moment.

good choice matey and enjoy!

Glad you’re enjoying the car, it’s no doubt a special car that has a lot of presence on the road.

I love it specially after seeing it launch right next to me.

This is me, "hey put your foot down I want to hear it", next thing I know you were at the next set of lights before I finished my sentence, lol.

I imagine that when I see one of these on the roads, I'll be enjoying the same view your picture shows.

What a car. Just wondering, did you consider the Cayenne?

Hi Moth,

I looked at Cayenne Turbo and Range Rover Supercharged, but as I mention above, I wanted something practical, very quick and a car that you don't see around much...
So that ruled out the Range Rover... I also don't like the snobby badge you get labelled driving one....
The Cayenne, albeit a great car gets eaten by the ML on all the tests I've read, also has gearbox issues and engine liner problems...
To date I've heard very little issues with the 63 engine and the W164 ML model is by far one of the best IMO....

Cheers

I'm glad to see that you're enjoying the ML pal.

I'm keeping a keen eye on the progress of yours and Bobby Dazzlers experiences, all being well I will join the club later next year.

I hope ya well Lee....

I am mate, the C36 goes in tomorrow for the respray and I can't wait for it to be done. :)

It's highly likely that I'm going to buy a W164 next, just a 320 CDi Sport to see how it fares, this Discovery will take some beating practicality-wise.

ML63 looks right .. understated in dark colours, but menacing to those who know :)

I know of a couple of SL63s that had new engines through MB Croydon. For me the supercharged 55 made more sense - you need a huge amount of torque to shift these things from rest. That said the C63 is a huge improvement over the C55.

Interesting. For what it's worth, I would also definitely choose the W164 over the other two, even without the benefit of your research about performance and reliability issues.

There is a certain stealthy 'Q-car' charm about the W164 that is very appealing - it's as subtle as any AMG-badged vehicle of this size could possibly be. There's a saying that comes to mind... "Talk softly, but carry a big stick."

Long may your car stay 'under the radar', and I hope you have plenty of fun in it. Obviously you'll be taking it easy with the kids most of the time, but I'm sure you'll have the odd opportunity to surprise the hell out of some other 'sports car' drivers from time to time...

I got shredded by a woman in a white one on the A12 near Chelmsford.
She certainly knew how to whip the horses.

Seeing as you've mentioned it, what problems with your legs was the 911 causing and why is this better?
I know about your accident issues, am just interested to hear why this car is better for you, is it the seating position and seat comfort?

No comment.... I didn't buy it to worry about that..... Life is too short...drive what you want!!

What do you get out of it - I don't believe it would be that bad (everything's relative of course)?

:D

Sadly I don't get on with 911s because of the offset pedals (to accommodate the fuel tank) - my hips are susceptible to pain when twisting relative to my spine.

I heard some time after my first 911-drive that it's not unusual.

i really want an E63/CLS63 but also been looking at Range Rover Supercharged and i think i might just combine it and get the ML63 AMG

if i need any pointers or advice i might give you a pm if its not too much hassle

A range rover is a horrible horrible car IMHO. Plus an E320cdi will lunch a supercharged one, I would know supercharged range rovers and rr sports were a favourite snack of it, well, at least when it wasn't in limp home mode
