Have just bought a front end damaged example of the above, not something talked about much on here. Is there another forum for classics?

I was reading the thread blurry eyed on my phone (first thing) I saw 300 sel w116 and 6.9

I met someone yesterday who is transplanting an M119 engine from a W140 S class into a W116 S Class, that was originally a 450. Should be fun!

To answer the OP's question, I would add to the others' comments that the offiical MB Owners' Club has a number of owners with a wealth of experience, but membership would be required.

A friend has one. Glorious beastie, but the suspension is always going wrong (is it the air suspension from the Grosser? I am most probably wrong) and it is prone to rust in the wings.
