I see that 318d has better time from 0-100 (10.6s) than c200 cdi (12.1). What I want to know is if it affects the engine's durability. And another thing that's not related to the engine: does it feel like driving bigger car while sitting in c200 than 3 series from the same year (2001.)?

The 320d (and possibly 318d) had a problem with 'swirl flaps' which can lunch the engine. Cured in 2003.

Yup a big flaw giving a HIGH repair bill to be fixed

i drove a 320d circa 2002; didnt like it. compared to the merc it felt like it handled on rails - but was too harsh, the torque comes in a weird place & was not enough seatroom for a 6" driver.

the feel of the general feel of the car (saloon) was not as good imho, as the merc, and i certainly wouldnt want to drive it more than 100m

Google bmw 320d turbo and get ready for a long and expensive read.

Also dont take the book 0-60 times to be law. You might want to look at bhp, torque and weight figures of both cars. Disregard 0-60 times because mercedes are always massively conservative.
