500E engine fault!

Hi all, my first post but I only just found this site oddly.

I had the ASR light come on, the rev counter stopped working and I only had full throttle, nothing inbetween.

You can imagine how interesting a drive I had taking it home

I was told by the dealer that it was the LH module wich I ordered and hope to fit in the next few days.

Anyone with any similar problems or tips?

Have had this happen on the SL when it was having problems. Turning off and back on should sort it out temporarily and restore normal throttle control.

Last time it happened was in rush hour on the A404M...not the best place!

I had this on a W124 300E fitted with ASR and it resulted in a new throttle switch......big money. Initially I found that switching off and on reset the system, but thereafter it started getting more regular and bEcame a downright hazzard, especially when it happened as I was overtaking another car at full throttle and it cut the engine power as I was halfway past.....the guy i was overtaking must I have throught I was a right joker as I had to pull back in and onto the grass bank

Sadly the problem I had was that I ONLY had full throttle, smokey exits from everywhere

A new throttle module has now fixed it, the car is in rude health yet again!
