I need a pair of 20" rear tyres for the E55 and was just after a bit of input really and what you're all using?

Reason I ask is that I normally fit Conti's no questions asked but, having fitted Toyo Proxes to the RR Sport and seeing them only half worn at 18k miles, I'm thinking of trying them out because if they're anything like the ones on the Sport they *should* be very grippy, very quiet (they were 285/35/22 on the RRS) and as an added bonus last.

Toyo's did 18k thats dam fine going buddy, I had Toyo T1r's on my Gul T5r and they did around 8k, awesome grip both wet n dry. Although it was front wheel drive.

20" Contisport 2 all round on the CL.
I was asking the same question earlier in the year and was looking at Toyo, Nokian Z line and Vredstein.
I more or less decided on the Z line when the time comes.

Surely we're talking apples and oranges regarding tyre wear expectation, an RRSport wont wear tyres like the rear of an E55.

For what its worth i got about 40k miles out of a set of Pirelli PZero Rosso's on my last ML.

My Audi Q7 went through brand new Michelins on the front in 9k miles...

Wow, i would be unhappy with that level of wear. The best wear i ever got was 52k miles from a pair of Dunlop SP Sports on a BMW 5 series.

It was the V8 TDi, but still...they are renowned for munching front tyres...

Think I might try the Toyos, they definitely impressed me on the RRS.

I don't like Contis, they were what the car was specced with I believe and what I used to fit but I found them too noisy. I changed to Dunlop which were a marked improvement but more recently to Goodyear Asymmetric 2 which seem better again.

F1`S - but hey come up a little wide, michelins would be my choice

Just to close this thread I ended up putting 19" AMG IV split rims on the E55 and have fitted Continental Sport Contact 2's and so far I'm impressed; grippy and quiet.

They are the only wheels to have :thumb: Ask Alps
