Once again my 56 plate SL 350 has technologically challenged me - and won ! I've looked at several threads about phones, but having read them, I'm no wiser.

I've used a Nokia 6310i for many years, and the dealer I bought the car from gave me a cradle for it. It still works but is decidedly battered looking, and frankly, past it.

So I've acquired a new (to me) Sony Ericcson ELM, for which as far as I can see there is no cradle available. So I guess it has to be a bluetooth solution...but which one ?

Am I right in thinking that a Viseeo MBU 1000 will fit into my existing cradle, and that will then allow me to use the Sony Ericcson ? Including the steering wheel buttons, and dialling from the COMAND screen ?

On the other hand, a similar query was answered by NPUK with "you'd be better off getting a MB-2 or MB-3". Why ? What is the difference, and what extra features would it offer ?

And finally, I've been given an iPod. As far as I can see there is no aux input for devices like this (no socket in the glove box), so can I play this via bluetooth too ? And if so how ?

Thanks

Geoff

Do not put the MBU1000 in the existing UHI cradle, it just doesn't work as-well as having the MB2/MB3/MB4 plugged direct into the port. This is because there are extra layers of software for things to go wrong of course :-)

The phone system is very seperate from the audio system. You could use a MB-3 which would bluetooth stream the music from the phone to the MB-3, which then transmits it on FM to the radio....

The alternative is to add a proper iPod solution that emulates the CD changer, such as the mCar (see Comand Online Ltd and search for mcar) - which sounds superb (but you lose the CD changer if you have it). This is particularly effective on cars without the phone system as it has a built in bluetooth phone system too, but rather than buying a MB2/MB3/MB4 you could use the phone system in the mCar instead.

Cheers

Richard
