5th seat and seat belt

I have 2 mercedes an A140 which I use for the school run and family outings and a clk 230 coupe which my husband uses for work.

Does anyone know if we can have the plastic tray changed into a seat and a seat belt fitted for the occasional use of a child?

I have the V5 form and where is says about number of seat including driver it is blank???

any help would be great whether this is possible or not thank for you help in advance

yeah but is this!!! i dont really want to have to sell it and have been told possiblity of getting a seat pad and a selt belt fitted in the middle for a child but when i search it nothing really comes up - so i just wondered if anyone on here had heard about any company that does this properly

Its not that it is 'not possible' anything is within reason in a car, given the expertise and a workshop.

Clearly, 179 people had no relevant information to add, and neither do I really.

Except that this subject was covered by a CLS owner who wanted to add a third central seat, lots of discussion about legality and practicality. I don't recall the outcome.

These coupes were designed and tested with just 2 seats in the rear and (about to make a bold statement) - you will not find a 'kit' to convert to 3 seats.

I imagine you would need an upholsterer but more importantly the seat belt anchorages would need to be really secure, after all the car was never crash tested with three rear occupants and yours would be the first in the world. So I think even a good job would cause an MOT fail.

just been told that no CLK have a 5th selt belt therefore its not possible due to there being no anchor points! so the car must go................ or the child!

I seem to recall the original CLS third rear seat post, I am sure the poster found a company that made 3 across child seats that would fit in the rear of various models.
