Hey everyone
Just purchased another CLK350, loved the first one, a 2005 but now have a 2009 with the cd stacker in the glovebox. System failing to recognise it, tried fuses, pulling leads out etc but nothing. Pulled it out and apart and can see a cd out of the cassette but does anyone know how to get it back into the cassette manually and let me get the cassette out. Fibre optic light is on in the back and fuse is good so not sure where to go. Any assistance very appreciated. Cheers Glenn

I would reconnect the stacker and then while holding the eject button hit the cassette with the handle of a screwdriver a few times. This usually works to jolt the system back into operation. It's usually a problem with the lube on the gears etc drying out.

Thanks for the replies, found what each of the cogs does and wound the cd back in, cartridge popped out. The stuck cd was a legitimate one but there were 2 copies in there as well. Put everything back together and now system recognises the cartridge and scans it but that's all it does, continues to scan but nothing else. CDC is now on the screen, not CD, does this mean CD Cartridge because I have the maps cd in the single slot in the unit. Have been charging my battery all day but has dropped again so maybe it is just a current issue now, not enough power to be doing everything it needs to do. Will report back tomorrow, will try with the car running and not just accesories.

I have one of these (never really used) but it sometimes the head unit does not recognise its existence, which is reset when I plug the fibre optic in and out , all is well for a while then the fault returns.

I binned mine when I fitted my Pioneer system, it was redundant anyway. I still have CD's in the glove box but never play them as I have 300 tracks on the SD card in the Pioneer head unit.

It's more about keeping things original whether I use it or not. Has the bluetooth dongle so hands free etc works which is great because the last one didn't have that, even had the Navigator CD so maps works as well. Tried this morning with battery charged and car running and still just says "scanning magazine, please wait" so will have to persevere. There must be something in there.

Mine does this on occasions; it's taken up to 20 minutes before working properly. Seems worse in cold weather.
Once it is working, you should find that it plays MP3s as well. I burn audio books onto CD-Rs as MP3, then get around 60 hours from a cartridge. Essential for those long journeys round the M25...

Ian.

PS. A lens cleaning CD and a little alcohol might help.

Cheers Ian, once I pick up the new battery, I will throw it back in and just leave it. Will give it a bit of a clean while it's out. Onto the usual service items while I wait.

For tidiness,, ou’ll be able to pick up a working replacement for £20 on EBay.

But no-one will use the thing. The world’s moved on

Speak for yourself, this old fart is strictly old school 🤣
Then £20 on EBay will save you a load of faffing
