I there, I just purchased a W202 C200 Classic with 85k or around abouts on the clock.
I had a 540i in which the gearbox started to fail at around 100k, thanks to the stupid idea of ESSO LT sealed for life fluid, which degrades just like any other ATF.
So I really want to get my W202's transmission fluid changed along with the filter whilst I'm there. Now mine is S registered toward the very end of 1998 I believe. Will this still have the drain on the torque convertor, I'm really not a fan of the dilution method. (I drove a tiptronic 1999 C200 and found the older 5 speed I have to be alot smooth, the tiptronic was rather slow to react) I understand I need to purchase a dipstick, I've sourced one on ebay for the job about 5 pounds, I'm assuming this is the tube on the left side of the engine with a cap saying "for MB workshop use only" on it. Can I also refill using this tube? Or is there a fill hole on the side of the box, like there was on my 190E Manual?
Not sure what the actual transmission in this car is... 722.5 or 722.6
Either way it's listed as 722.6 on the Millers Oil website.
Is Millermatic ATF DM, an acceptable fluid to use, I'm good friends with my local motor factor owner, so I can get 5 litres of this stuff for around about £17...![Stick Out Tongue :p :p](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f61b.png)
Also with regards to Engine Oil,I think it's just been changed looks pretty clean but it can't help to keep my motor tip top. So which viscosity do you recommend?
I was thinking about using Millers XFS Fully Synth 5w-40, again as I can get it for a good price.
Many Thanks.
