Mum's W169 A180CDi. Yesterday, the ABS/ESP warning light came on. In addition, the fuel gauge dropped to zero and thus the remaining range showed 0 miles on the trip computer. She pulled over, turned the engine off, waited and restarted. All seemed fine but within a minute or so, the same thing happened. She's dropped it off for investigation at our indy.

He's found a faulty wheel speed sensor but despite not finding any other diagnostic faults, he's not happy that a new sensor will solve the fuel gauge issue.

Any ideas if the symptoms are connected, i.e. the same sensor?

TVM.

Hello!

I have the same issue...

ABS, ESP light came on this morning while driving on the freeway. fuel gauge meter dropped to zero. The car made a "slight hick-up" as Power suddenly dropped and came back on. Car worked ok otherwise. Upon arriving at work I stopped the car and started again. Now fuel gauge was workning but Engine lamp lit up.

Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? I called Mercedes and they had no idea and wanted to do a regular search. And since I know that that could take some time, and I need the car workning as quickly as possible, I would like to get ahead start on this problem.

Regards T

Hi!

I Went to the local MB dealer. They advised to replace the break switch above the break pedal since that was usuall involved in creating different errors linked to ABS ESP and Engine light warning.

I replaced it hours ago and the problem persists... Only change is that the ABS and ESP takes a few seconds to come on while it Before was on instantly when the car was started.

I have to Schedule an appointment in about 2 weeks to get and Reading of codes etc. done.

With my luck this is going to be a looong and expensive trip Before the problem is fixed.

Personally I would do the sensor and then see how it goes

By the way.. What do you mena by do the sensors? Can I test them in some sort of way or what?

Get the code cleared on MB Star it should be ok then.

Do you think that the only problem is that I have residuent codes that interfer and causes these problems?

Seems MB fixed the problem today. All is well sofar anyway. They replaced the sensor for the ABS breaks.
Thanks to all who helped with input.
