I have the dreaded "Left side airbag malfunction" error on my 2018 A CLass. Reading around this, it seems that this is usually caused by the pressure sensor in the left seat. I spoke to my local indie who tells me that these sensors aren't available and a new seat base needs to be fitted - price £1000!

Two questions:

1. Has anyone else on here experienced this fault?

2. I'd like to check this out with a fault code reader. Who knows a reset may cure it! My existing cheapie reader won't talk to this car. Can anyone recommend a model that does?

I've run into this issue a couple of times. The issue is with how the wires are crimped in the pins, took ages to find the first one I had! Check the pins seat side of the yellow under seat connector (with the battery off) you will need to disassemble the connector and remove the pins individually and inspect. Faulty pins will pull straight off with little to no effort and are obtainable at low cost from dealers.

If it was a simple case of clearing the codes do you not think your Indie would have done this?
