Orange have to be the worlds worst broadband provider ...

Originally i was with BT Freeserve , then it was bought out by Orange ... while it was BT , never had a problem , and i mean ever ..

Now its Orange , the line drops out all the time , and currently is only working intermittantly ...

'Get on the website' , i hear you say 'see what their service status is !'

Well , everything is showing 100% ...

So i ring their Broadband Status line ... a recorded message ( which per se i have no problem with ) except it sounds like it has been recorded by one of the kids you see sitting outside the chip shop on a friday night smoking weed.

It says ' Customers are currently experiencing 'Page cannot be displayed errors , we have no resolution time for this , so please keep trying your connection '

WTF ??? What do i pay for ? Are you going to give me a refund for all the days i couldn't connect ? It's been like this for over a week !! How difficult can it be ?

****ing Orange !!

Sorry , just needed to get that out ...

We've had the same problem all weekend.

I thought it was just our computers at home.

I'm with Orange also.

And they keep calling up trying to get me to take their "BT" Line and save £5.

There must be a catch somewhere!

Have you tried OpenDNS to see if that makes any difference?

Its either DNS or their transparent proxies that it the likely cause of your issues (assuming your internal connection to your router is sound).

If its any consolation, My Virgin/Blueyonder account has daily blackouts and has done for a number of years. (sometimes they last a couple of minutes and sometimes they last a few hours)

I was with NTHell for year totally appalling, im now with BT, expensive, capped download limits, but when I call them I can get through after 2 rings and everything is fixed.

You get what you pay for - free = crap

Must admit I've got a BT Broadband subscription, not overly cheap, no limits (option 3 is it? can't remember) and touch wood, has never let me down, even the hub only has occasional blips where a restart is required

It's not free ....

As i said, when it was BT , all was great .... I didn't change , looking for a better deal , bloody Orange bought them out.

Sp!ke , thats a bit over my head mate , what is it ?

Only to this and other forums, everything else if fine.

It has to be routing issue as if you route via another server it's ok and seems to reset your original connection often.

My service provider has suddenly become really cr*p too - I was with Telewest broadband, no issues in the least - I was always going on about what a fantastic service they provided - they got taken over by VIRGIN media and now they are officially PANTS!

Just summarise for me , what does it do ? does it affect security and can i change it back ?

In idiots terms please .... ;)

Ummmmm .... where do i get the OpenDNS addresses from that it wants ... i think i should maybe leave this alone.
