A memebers car?

When I spoke with dr1ver about this car he told me the head gasket was shot and that a "mate" was going to fix it. I wonder if said mate did? If so things to watch for are (experience gained from Gollum's car) gasket sat on block square. Cams set up properly, will run 1 tooth out, but of does it run rough. All vac lines under manifold put on in correct places. Heat shield in front manifold put on before manifold fitted to block, coz they are a pig to fit otherwise. Air pump hose not perished (Carol's was) and the list goes on.

And a great job he did too! Better take him a pack of baccy..

So why would it require a new CHG at such a low mileage? I thought that was only usually needed at 100K miles or so?

P.S. Carols air pump is not perished. It's as good as it ever was.....

Seeing what other people have said that advert on eBay is at best dishonest.

He's saying it may be the head gasket when he knows full well that it is.

Even though he's not a trader, isn't that illegal?

The antifcorrosion inhibitors still age and so the head and gasket corrode. Change the antifreeze every two years to avoid this.

Hi Everyone

Thanks for all the complements on the car

that advert on eBay is at best dishonest
There is an oil leak from the engine and I have told everyone who has called me regarding the car to presume that the car needs a replacement headgasket. The 'mate' who was going to fix it has been very busy as is often the case with ex porsche mechanics.

5000 miles in 4 years? And it took 3 years to do 1000 miles from new...
The car had a change of owner in the late 90's
