My son swapped his Cooper S last weekend...for this -

All the Brabus bits had been ordered by Mercedes when the car was new - apparently it was a show car - but they didn't do the pedals.

Needless to say he has been instructed in the ways of the forum, and they are now on order. :)

I had a drive, and its a feisty thing - but it has averaged 36 mpg over 2k miles, which he is very happy about.

He has left the D3 badge on, [but not the Brabus one] on the basis that no-one [apart from you lot, obviously;)] will have a clue what it is

NB- while so many dealers are getting a bad name - MB Direct M/cr drew £300 more for his Cooper S than they allowed him and they are sending him a cheque - now that is good service, isn't it?

Looking good!!

My wife picked up her new A170 CDI the other day and I'm impressed with it. Build quality seems excellent and with the upgrade alloys she got it handles like it's on rails. I would think the little Brabus one is a whole lot of fun :D

I really like that.

Is it any faster than his Cooper S though?

Depends where your calling faster.... My old C180k gave a cooper a fright on the motorway 80+

In a word, No!

I was surprised he went for it at first - but having driven both cars I can see why he did.

The Cooper S is great fun, but it isn't very versatile or economical. If you don't drive it quickly, you don't save much fuel, and you don't have much in the way of refinement to compensate.

I think what attracted him to the 'A' was the immense torque - it's very very quick once it's moving, [feels at least as quick as the 'S'] though not as quick off the mark. That, and the economy and the improved ride. [It has the Brabus Sport Springs]
Also he's 6'2" so the back of the Mini was useless with him driving and me as a passenger, but the whole family/his mates can fit in the A class.

Lower road tax, lower insurance and a good trade in sealed the deal!

The BRABUS D3 performance kit provides an extra 50 bhp and 50 Nm of torque. The 0-62.5 mph acceleration is also reduced from 9.5 seconds down to 8.3 seconds. The BRABUS D3 kit makes optimal use of the reserves of the 1.9-litre common-rail turbodiesel engine. Power output increases from standard 140 hp to 190 hp. At the same time peak torque grows from 300 to 350 Nm between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm.Top speed of the five-door increases from 125mph to 137mph.
The BRABUS-tuned A200CDi not only delivers excellent performance, it does so with the same fuel efficiency as the lower-powered production car. The same is true for the exhaust emissions:
Just like the production car, the BRABUS-tuned A200CDi meets Euro 4 emission standards.
Thanks to all for kind comments - he's like a dog with 2 tails :p

Nice one Guy, look forward to seeing you both at a suitable GTG mate.
