Hello All,

Recently bought a 2015 E400 convertible and enjoying it so far. Have treated the soft top with Renovo cleaner, reviver and will reapplying ultra proofer tomorrow eve. Next on the list is to Gummi Pflege as much rubber as I can, so a couple of questions for more experienced owners:

- Is it fine to stop the roof mid cycle to get access to seals is this asking for trouble?

- Should I also be applying WD40 to any parts of the roof mechanism to keep it running smoothly or should I avoid applying this anywhere?

Any other tips for soft top care, maintenance and longevity are welcome.

Thanks

Yes it’s fine to stop the mechanism mid movement .
Don‘t use WD40 , try a silicone spray or something like GT85 (at least that’s what I’ve used for years ) .
I spray all the hinges and moving parts every year .
Renovo is a good product . I use Grangers Fabsil gold waterproofer as it’s cheaper .
Millton baby bottle tablets are good to get rid of any roof green muck and Johnson’s baby shampoo is a good gentle roof cleaner

I leave my engine running and stop the roof mid cycle, some people wedge the roof with a length of 2x4 to prevent it closing and possibly trapping fingers. It only takes ten minutes tops to go round all the seals with Gummi so I just leave the car of tickover. i assume as you have a cloth roof so it is alot lighter than mine and you have less rubber seals. Also wise to gummi your boot and door seals while you are at it
I agree with Wighty, dont use WD40
kc

Evrey day a learning day il be doing my roof Friday

I use Autoglym cleaner/sealer kit. There is enough for two applications.
