gutted
i seem to have misplaced (LOST!!!) a key for my w208 CLK
Replacements??? ... HOW MUCH AND WHERE FROM ... AAARRRHHH!!!
:(

Main dealer.

Take the V5 (Sometimes they like to see the car too!!)

I think around two hundred and sixty notes. Perhaps plus VaT. Sorry. Others will correct me if I am wrong.

£195 for a key plus £80 for programming inc VAT for my W163!!
So it has to wait then. I got one key only and hopefully I am not going to lose that one.

can i source a 2nd hand key from anywhere and have a main dealer re program that?

^ there is another thread about this.

Guy comes to your house and reprograms a key with his laptop. Its around £200

Sounds well iffy that a chap knows where you live with your car details. I would go through the dealer network.

Do you know you have lost it or is it just missplaced?

Does anyone have a link to the other thread?
I've turned the house and car upside down :(

227 all in from the dealer. Unfortunately the best way to do it. I had to get a new key 4 or so weeks ago.

I would recommend a dealer for peace of mind - not some man and van you have never seen before and will never see again.

Want to know how much a key for my W124 cost? £600!!! And the dealer (MB Chelsea, actually in Wandsworth) took so long (1 week longer than they claimed) that I complained and they threatened to "roll my car into the road" so it would no longer be their responsibility (basically dump it) if I complained again

£600???

I think I'd take my chance with the man with the van...especially given he's a well known member on here and other MB forum.

hi
i have just used ben from mecedes car keys yesterday for my c class coupe !
and have to say he was fantastic. a really nice bloke and he does not store your name or address on his laptop only something like ... mike w203 sheffield !
so if someone did get hold of his laptop they would have no idea what it meant.
he keeps these deatils incase you lose another then can post one out to you for £100.
he will come anywhere (so if you are worried meet him at a mates or work) does not ask where you live.
also another nice touch from him was i told him i bought it a couple of months ago and only got 1 key as the previous owner couldnt find the other, so he re programmed both keys so that even if anyone found the old one it would not work anyway !!
all in all a top bloke & glad i used him.
and i was also a bit worried about the security issues too. (but not now)
andy.

Hi
Does anyone have Bens contact details and know of the area he works within/covers?
Thank you

I recently bought a spare key (2nd) as the car I bought came with only the one.
Always that nagging doubt that 'what happens if I lose the only key I have' or 'what if it gets broken'.
I tried a couple of alternatives to using the Main Stealers, but either they said they couldn't do it, didn't return my call, (answer phone when I rang) or quoted me the same price as the Main Stealer. So reluctantly went to my local Merc dealer and paid £227 inc. VAT but at least I now have a spare and more importantly.....peace of mind.
They needed to see the V5 - Driving Licence - a utility bill - car. It took 5 working days for it to arrive and they texted to let me know when it had. Evidently is arrives at the dealers in two deliveries, the remote and the blade and also pre-programmed. (Probably something to do with security). :dk:

Have you had any issues with either keys since?

My car only came with 1 key and I am looking at options ;)

Erm the flip out keys for that model are circa £180, just bought two... where did £600 come from?

no dealer is going to abandon a customers car, the resulting action they would receive from doing so would be severe, to make such a statement I am guessing that things got quite heated and there may have been a fair amount of provocation? As for 600 for a key, is this entirely true? Surely there must have been other work involved here, I don't mean to cause offence but it just doesn't sound right, now I know dealers are sometimes iffy but this just sounds bizzare.
