Help!

Ive had an e350CDi 2009 coupe for about 6 months now. Generally fine and faultless apart from a PAS hose leak which I’ve sorted. Recently have noticed a lack of power in the midrange. With the windows open today I can hear it, it’s a ‘flutter’ and engine is a bit flat. Definite misfire. No lights up.

Oil level seems potentially a bit high although I need to check once it’s settled down to confirm for sure.

Any ideas? It’s going in to Avantgarde for a service next month, although is this something that would throw a code readable by most garage equipment since I might put it in locally before then. No signs of any untoward leaks, diesel smells etc but first thought was injectors...

...would a bottle of injector cleaner be a reasonable first step?

Cheers!

I have a similar issue with my 220 CDI no lights or codes. MPG seems to have dropped a bit, I put Forte injector cleaner in a week ago and it seems to be getting better under load. Next fill will be Shell V Power and maybe a dose of Millers.

Thanks. I’m inclined to think that it’s a fault, but it’s not completely impossible that it was a bad tank of fuel since I’ve only really noticed it since the last fill at Asda. I’ll try some injector cleaner and fill up next time with VPower to see if this works...

Well oddly enough, I bought fuel at a small Texaco station on the Wirral, I can't be 100% certain that it started then. But I do have my doubts that it may have stemmed from there.

Follow the oil level frequently, if you suspect its rising. There could be regen too frequently or leaky injector.
