A-class
Guys,
I wonder if you could help me with following problem. I was driving yesterday my W169 2006 A-class when suddenly I got warning message something about "ABS ESP down, visit workshop" (I can't duplicate message exactly now) and car suddenly dropped the speed to up to 30 m/h.
I have parked the car on the side of the road and restart engine but problem persist. So with that slow speed I have manage to back home and this morning when I have stared engine and drove off (to workshop) everything back to normal.
Is it some sort of sensor failing? Perhaps computer is dying on me? Please tell me it is not something major because recently I have spend enough for coil springs and other repairs.:wallbash:
Thanks in advance.

Hi.

It might be a wheel speed sensor that is playiny up.

But first thing to do is get it hooked up to a star machine and get the fault codes read.

I have followed Andy’s advice and I get computer hooked up in two separate garages and nothing has been found in terms of faulty codes. Because I have not been driving often away from town this problem seemed disappeared. However every time when I drive up to 60-70 m/h from cold start (that is A150 petrol engine) I got that message again with condition described early of car slowing down. Then I got to restart the engine couple of times after which message on cars computer not appears anymore and all going back to normal.
So to clarify, message appears only when you drive faster from start with cold engine. After a car restart all going back to normal.:thumb: In garage they can’t read any codes about this issue.
I will be appreciated if someone gives me some directions here. I am thinking of selling this car soon and it got to be fixed before that but it seems no one knows what’s wrong with it. :dk:
Thanks in advance.

Although you have had it in 2 garages, have either if them got the Meecedes star diagnostics as if not find a garage that has.
Not all diagnostic kit covers all the areas you need to see

ask the garage to connect diagnostic and the guy goes with you in the car then when it happens he will see it and fault code should be recorded..
