Ace cafe mercedes meet 23/5/2012

Bummer, just saw this today, could have easily made it last night:-(

Yes it was.
Spent a great evening got so carried away I thought I was still at the PCS GTG with the familiar faces so ordered a drink and promptly walked away hastily followed by bar staff explaining you had to pay for the drinks :dk:

I explained to them that I couldn't make Ollie's GTG and asked them to send him the bill, but that didn't work either! Hope to catch you next time.

You know it's a good meet when you feel a bit of a wimp in standard SL500!!

Looks like it was a great meet! Some familiar faces from Olly's GTG too.

Is "WTF" the S124 we were being treated to little teasing glimpses of at Olly's the other week? (Sorry to say I don't know the guy's name, but he was giving us little peeps of the work in progress on his mobile.)

heres a couple of pictures i took of the W111 cabriolet from last night at the Ace cafe, really like this model.

I believe it started life as a W111 coupé and the owner did the conversion himself.

I wouldn't be able to tell if it was original or not, having never been that close to one before, but it looks pretty good for a home conversion to me.

is it built on a chassy or would he have had to strengthen the floor?

Rigel:I take it your car was parked next to Billy`s?
Sorry I never got a chance to say hello

it was indeed, towards the end of the evening.

I didnt know who was who:confused:, but recognised billy's car from the pictures of his rims you posted on your thread from the MB club meet earlier this month.

I then just hung around it until the owner appeared and accused him of being Billy.

OK, I have copied the "BB code" as given on the "my gallery" page, hope this works.

Yes!!! there we go.

Dinoy, a forum member here spotted that straight away. Mentioned that it didn't look original, makes sense now.

I didn't really have a good look at it, but the rear view is a giveaway with the
window and external hinges on the boot. I did think that the roof had a deeper appearance from the front, but well done, nonetheless.

Dash, I'll get me a chauffeur next time!;)
