Hi GUYS,

Thinking of getting a A Class SE any thoughts on engine as im looking at the petrol one auto, and any other things i should consider thanks.

Not sure what age A class you are looking at, but avoid the autobox on the W168 1997 -2004) model. My wife had a '98 manual petrol model and it was faultless.

The latest FWD model is the result of a joint development between Renault and Mercedes. The 180 petrol is a tuned up [ more boost?] version of the basic 1600cc engine. The gearbox is a twin clutch automated manual. They are built /assembled in Kecskemét Hungary , by Valmet in Finland and in Germany. You will find them a very different animal from your W124.

My W124 is a tank.. the A class im looking for is for my wife would prefer a Auto. We just had some bad experience with VW Golf we owned...

She should also look at the INFINITY Q30 which while almost the same car has a softer riding and a less claustrophobic feel to it .

Cheers guys, any more thoughts the IFINTI looks the same and it has more spec and less payments over the month, need to make my mind up today so please anymore feed back would be good..

The Infiniti is built on the 'A' class platform.
Personally I would chase the best ownership lifetime deal - but Don't forget that the Mercedes will probably have better residuals, there is the kudos of the Mercedes, and you get to stay on this wonderful forum.

Since its going to be your wife's car to drive why not let her test drive both and let her decide? How you are treated when you visit the local dealership where you intend to buy the car may also help gauge what any any future ownership experience may be like. Infinity dealership numbers are fairly low in the UK at present compared to MB so that might also be a factor ?
