Adblu

A member above has mentioned the awkwardness of filling the AdBlue tank in a Tiguan. Darn right! Our Tiguan is a Motability car for my husband so I have to get the bottom panel out of the boot area, then both of us shove up the spare which we hold up with a stick, then with immense care, I try to locate the nozzle and fill the tank, very heavy. Next time I think I'll decant from my 10 litre container (£12.99 at a local BP garage) into a 1.5 litre (£9.99 at same place). Expensive in the short term but less exhausting.

I'm sure as a motabilty customer your husband would be able to request the supplying dealership to top up the AdBlue tank.

You certainly shouldn't have to struggle Lisa. Accept the help if/when it's available. :thumb:

Ant.

I've often wondered, given that Adblue is basically urea, if anybody has ever tried peeing into the tank when the warning light tells them it needs topping up and if it has an adverse effect??? :D

I've read somewhere that Motability customers get AdBlue free. Even if the VW dealer charges the normal price, VW has fixed the price as £1.50 per litre which includes putting it in, so not massively dearer than doing it yourself. May be more incovenient, of course, if the dealer isn't handy.

Slightly off topic but having only had my S205 C250 BlueTEC for a few weeks (late 2014 model), I notice that when I switch the engine off and get out, there's a soft ticking noise from somewhere below the area under the filler cap for about 15 - 20 seconds.

I asked at the dealers and they scratched their head and said it's probably the exhaust cooling down?! Seems unlikely, given that its a fast regular ticking that lasts a while then stops. I wondered if its the addblu pump doing its thing?

Any other C250 BT owners noticed the same?

Have you posted that elsewhere? If not, then someone else has exactly the same issue.

I can't say I've noticed it on our Tiguan, so it's not a general AdBlue pump thing.

Hi Rory

Yep - posted it elswhere but got no response from other C250 BlueTEC owners on that forum either.
