Brabus K2 (C-Class W203)
Help required please!!

I currently own a 2001 w203 c200k with a brabus K2 Conversion. however in my quest for more power i have aquired a brand new brabus 2.6 engine off brabus in germany (clearance stock).

This engine is based on a 2001 c180 engine.. ie no charger.

So what i want to do is take the kompressor off the engine that is in my car currently and fit it to my new 2.6.. (Both engines are of the same type and look exactly the same (except the kompressor)

However i am aware that it is unlikely to be that straightforward. can anyone help me by letting me know what problems i am likely to encouter??

Thanks for help in advance..

Sounds like an interesting project and no doubt will not be cheap.

I would imagine that the ECU will probaly have a few glicthes and Brabus would have to reprogamme it or worse scenario you may even need a new ECU.

If buying/sourcing the engine from Brabus then speak to the "Technical Support" guys and i am sure they would be able to advise you if this is possible and what problems are likely to be encountered as they normally do a warranty with all their products that also covers other parts/components that are directly related to the engine. A standard C200K is a nippy car and I would have thought that the K2 Conversion would have made it "very" responsive.

Good luck with the project but I personally would not be keen on replacing the engine with a modified engine that began its life as a standrad 1.8L.

You need to ensure that the Kompressor can deliver enough air for the power output required and ask Brabus whether the compression ratio needs to be lowered to accomodate the charging.
In addition ensure that the engine has been built with additional oil jets for piston cooling otherwise they will get very hot.

Thanks for replys.. i forgot to say that i bought the engine from the brabus clearance house on e-bay very cheap, so as such i dont get the usual technical support..

My Mechanic thinks that he should be able to put the kompressor from my car onto the engine but does think we may have some problems with the compressino ratio.. acording to brabus the ratio for the 2.6 i have purchased is 10 : 1 and when they do a conversion on the c200k engine to a 2.6 with kompressor the ratio is 9 : 1 does anyone know would a differant thickness head gasket be enough to make this change in ratio? or would such a small change even cause me a problem??

As for the ECU i know that when i had my car converted to a K2 (New Belt & Larger crank pully + exhaust) i did not need to get anything done with the ECU as it automaticly adjusted to the new parts..
As my car allready has a ECU to suit the Kompressor engine do you think that this will still be the case? or is a remap or even new ECU going to be required??

Thanks again Shane.
