Hi guys,

I recently bought my first mercedes- an 09 CLC 220CDI.

I thought the car had bluetooth but I got home and realised that although it does have the buttons, it just says "no phone" when i try and use them.

Basically I would like to know the cheapest way of getting bluetooth.
I was put in touch with a company called retro fit who have quoted me around £450 to retro fit the car so that i keep the current head unit (white text on screen and cd slot below the screen) and the steering wheel functions etc will all be used.

Alternatively I was thinking it may be just as cheap to buy the later audio 20 head unit with the colour screen and built in bluetooth and fit that.
I need to know what other parts I would need and whether I would need to get the car re programmed?

I have found this unit...

New Genuine Mercedes Benz CLC / C Class (203) Audio 20 Head Unit with Bluetooth | eBay

on ebay and the seller informed me that all I would need is a bluetooth aerial which are fairly cheap.

Finally, what options do I have for integrating an iPod with my car? I do currently have an aux input in the glove box but I would like to be able to plug an iPod in and control it with the steering wheel/ head unit.

Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated,

Regards,

Greg

Have you checked if your car has phone pre-wire? See UHI section. http://www.mercupgrades.com/Choosing+Bluetooth+Cradle+for+European+Mercedes+Vehicles-article-41.html

A 2009 CLC should have a NTG2.5 based audio unit, i.e. the one with colour screen and cd slot above the screen. This unit has full bluetooth built in.

It is very weird yours has the older unit. Either the car was sitting around for a very long time before being registered or the audio unit has been changed at some point and the older unit was fitted.

You can fit the newer Audio 20 unit as in the ebay link. You can sometimes pick them up cheaper, keep an eye on ebay and also ebay.de. Assuming your car is a MY09> and it previously had a NTG2.5 based audio unit no additional wiring or coding should be needed.

Both the current unit and the newer Audio 20 support the optional ipod interface for full ipod connectivity. The newer Audio 20 unit also supports media interface. http://www.comandonline.co.uk/C-last-model-CLC-and-CLK-class-W203-W209/

I think the first thing to do is determine if your car is a MY08 or MY09. Do you have the datacard? It will have a delivery date on there.

Thanks for your response, I have checked and can not find the data card or and hard wiring.
I think it must have come with the older audio 20 unit from new as the owner manuals come with the older style audio 20 manual.
Is there another way to check if it is an my08 or my 09 to be sure?

If it is a my08, what items will I need to buy and is the coding expensive?

Also, which part it required for the iPod integration? Apologies for all the questions.

Greg

Post a request in General Discussion and I ams usre someone will post up your datacard.

Personally I still think it is highly unlikely your car came with that stereo from the factory.

You would need the NTG2 ipod kit for your current stereo or the NTG2.5 ipod kit if you change the stereo to the newer Audio 20 with bluetooth.

Ive just picked up a new toy and it has the Parrot MKi9200 fitted.. its a great bit of kit that has connectivity to Phone, Ipod, USB, SD etc etc... google it as i dont think its that dear... I'm impressed with it...
