advice on w114

Hi Guys

Im new to the forum and very interested in buying a classic. I need some info on what and where to find a good example of a 230/280ce w114. Also i need to know what to avoid and what to look for.

do a search - im sure i have posted what to search for.... basically rust on the wings and C pillar. also on the footwell where the brake cable runs through the floor.

try to buy one without a sunroof (rare) as they are problematic.

try to get a 280 CE (E = fuel injection)

if you do - remove the ign amp from the wing and re - earth it - bad eatrh = blown ign amp..

wherwe are you based - i know these inside out...

Buy the Mercedes car magazine and look in their index of back copies for a buyer's guide to the W114. I have seen their guides for other models and been impressed at the level of technical detail. (Although they are always trying to punt one or two cars in their classifieds section.)
