Aerial for SLK 55 AMG

Not sure if this is the right forum - feel free to tell me off if not

Some oiks recently broke into my car and also broke the Arial.

Its an R171 model with the long flappy arial.

I have bought a few cheapo bee sting arials from e-bay but they dont fit and I cant see any way of making them fit so need to buy a proper one.

I have had a look at the online merc parts site and although it returns many results for the SLK Aerial it has no piccys for them so I cant tell which part I want / need.

Does anyone know the part number for the R171 long arial and if there is a stub arial (the R170 one?) if that will work and the part number for that.

The facelift 171 chassis cars have a shorter wing aerial. Speak to your local dealer and they will be able to order one for you. The thing is if the aerial is missing the central locking will have a poor range as it uses it for the radio signal.

There is a short(ish) stubby aerial that fits both the 170 & 171, Pt No A1708200675. This is considerbly shorter than the original 171, and the radio reception + other functions dont seem to suffer much if at all.

If you want a much cleaner look?

Then try, A2308270101 XXX. XXX being the colour code. This is the stubby from the SL. Both radio reception is affected (slightly) and the radius of the remote suffers (slightly) but it looks much better.

Thats the situaition I was in. Not wanting to have to paint the base I just got a, (Night Black?), SL one then painted it satin black to match the plastic base. The one that starts out 170 is a satin black soft plastic to start with.

Sounds like the 170 option for me - thanks again - will order this lunchtime
