Hi

Im trying to fix my aerial.

When i bought the car, the aerial was classed as 'broke' by the seller.
I've noticed after 2 weeks of owning the car that the motor still works for the aerial so i decided to take apart the aerial tonight in order to fix it.
I've now oiled down the seized up aerial and its in the boot now so the oil can do its job.

I have read the haynes manual which told me to 'note which way the teeth are pointing' to remember its way back in.
I do admit, I didnt do as it says as it wasn't going up or down anyway.
Now the aerial is actually in some kind of working condition, I am now having problems fitting it back in.
I dont know if the cord has snapped? I cant tell because the end of the cord seems clean. And i cant tell by length as i've never seen one before!

Im wondering if anyone can guide me now?
A picture below with the aerial fully extended to show roughly how much of the cord is left (so maybe someone can tell me if its snapped?) roughly 8-10 inches left.

Thanks in advance

If you pull the aerial out fully there should still be a reasonable amount of the plastic inner sticking out.

There's a good 'how to' thread on replacing the mast:

PS you don't really want to oil the antenna as that will cause grit/grime to stick to it. A replacement mast is pretty cheap, even from a dealer.

That looks too short - it may have broken inside the motor clutch housing.
