Hello,
When the new spring perchs were fitted, the car was different, the nose was highter. I took it as the old one were falling and the new one put it back in place.
But I was told that this is because they might have put it tight it up together while the car was on the ramp, and this should have been done with the car on the ground as the weight of the car would find his natural stand.
I went back to the shop and I was told its the normal height for the car and as they did a four wheels alignment they wll not change it.
Any imput on that? I still feel sometimes I drive the nose up...
Thank you.

Get the car up on a ramp (not a wheel free one) and slacken the nuts, then retighten.
If you are careful you should not move the alignment.

Hiya,
Thanks for that. What would a " not a wheel free one" be? Like a ramp to go under the car with the wheels still on it? If so a footpath would do me... What nuts should I slack?
Cheers.

Mine is higher as well but I did have new springs, rear springs must be old and soggy.

Also, your dirving a Mercedes, so you can drive with your nose up!:D

What they mean is the bolts have been tightened whilst the wheels were hanging ie in the relaxed position, so when car dropped all the bushs are twisted and holding the car up.

This was a common mistake when replacing truck/landrover springs/bushs and the new bushs would only last a matter of months instead of years.

Loosening the nuts as suggested whilst the car is sittng in its natural position will certainly help, you cant turn some of the bolts as they are slotted but not sure on all of them so as said mark the heads and just do the nuts.

Did they fit new springs?

Have you before and after pictures?

Item 150 two per side ie the 2 fat bushs on each lower arm where they attach to the chassis, still not sure this is your problem.

Thank you Lynall, I'll look at it tomorrow, 150 nuts will be loosen.
No new springs, just the perchs and the right side arm ball joint as it broke when they refit it.
I am sure I put some pictures on the previous topic. I'll look at them again.
Cheers.

Olivier, when you have loosened the nuts you should rock the car at the front until it settles in its natural position. This will relieve all the tension on the bushes. Re tighten and I will almost guarantee it will sit lower.
At the moment, just as Lynall states, the car is being held in the air by the rubber. If you leave it, it will damage the rubber bushes.

Those perches look a little low to me. The cup should be tight into the recess.

Thank you really much. And the shop said it was OK... Tut tut...
I'll rock the boat and tight them again.
Silly question, I need to do the four bolts in one go, is it?
You two are brilliant.
Franey I still owe you. The prop bearing as been changed last saturday, by me, my nice indy let me use the ramp :). Not much benefit from it... The culpid might be the Diff, clunking a little too much.

Do they? They look like they are sitting at the bottom like the old one :dk:

Yes but the ears on the new ones are not as long as the old ones. We measured them.

Humm, would those lower perchs actually highjack the car a bit then as in the wrong place?
Thank you.

Been thinking about this and they must had had the proper spring compressor to do this job so they wouldnt have touched the bottom arm at all as there no need to, or is there?

So may be as ian says wrong height.

Pic stolen from peachparts guy says its a 300td.

If that was the case why did they have a wheel alignment? Just a thought.

interesting. If you don't touch the bottom arm, there is no need to do a wheel alignment, or they did it just to be sure and part of their procedure.
I'll ask them.
Cheers.
