How do I know I have audio gateway module in my 2005 W211?

In the boot on the nearside rear, there is only one module which I believe is the central gateway, can I confirm I do not have an audio gateway module.

If the car has an Audio 20 CD (single CD drive instead of a CC drive), it would not have the AGW (assuming it does not have sound system audio).

Thanks, where should this module goes, beside the central gateway module?

Do you mean the Audio Gateway? Location shown here:

AGW connects to the head unit and other devices via the MOST fibre ring, via CAN bus and power harness to the rear SAM, speakers, radio antenna etc.

The central gateway by the way should appear at the left front upper footwell on LHD cars, I assume the opposite site on RHD cars.

If that is so, then I have an AGW even though it got an Audio 20 single CD. Am I right?

Or is the module on the rear nearside the SAM rear?

If you have Audio-20-Casette, Audio-50-APS (black+white) navigation, COMAND, OR Harmon Kardon sound system then you have an AGW.

It is tucked up between the inner and outer wings on the left hand side of the boot and its hard to see (but you can see the wires going up and feel it quite easily)

The AGW is the amplifer, tuner(s), fibre-network controller, and diagnostic gateway. As it contains the amplifer, there is a "special" Harmon Kardon version, which is why HK cars get the HK version.

You can see a picture of an un-installed non HK AGW here: -

AGW details

If you are seeing a small black controller on the top of the navigation/tv bracket in the boot its the Parktronic controller. In W211 without navigation, tv or parktronic the bracket is not there and the carpet is shaped to use the extra space for the boot area.

There are no tv, parktronic or navigation. Is this module the rear SAM ?

Where exactly is this, and what have you removed to see it. (and if you have removed stuff, can you see the part number)
