Could someone please tell me where the air con port is on this model ?

I recently bought a can of the Comma air con cleaner which failed & the contents just dribbled out of the can, I complained bitterly to my local Halfords & the manager not only replaced the cleaner but gave me a can of " EZ CHILL" refrigerant which allows me to check & charge the system.

The EZ Chill kit has a flexible plastic pipe with a gauge & what appears to be a push fit connector to go onto air con system somewhere, but where does it fit ?

Has any other member used this product ?

Hi Dave, many members do not like or use these things and prefer to use a proper AIR CON outfit to do this work

I'd be very wary of squirting refridgeraant in for the sake of it - you can do it by eye but it really should be vac'ed lubricated and filled using a charging still or scales.

Does it need gassing in the first place?

Cheers Malcom & Fred,

I'll take your advice & leave well alone.

I'll put it on e bay & let someone else have the benefit of the product.

Dave

I bought two of these kits off ebay and used to top up the air con on my wifes Focus (blowing warm air). Total waste of time and had to take car into local air con specialist (Babbacombe Garage) who charged £64 for recharge. Worked ok after but told to use aircon every month for at least 30 mins to keep system working properly.

was told to use the aircon every month to stop the pump seizing - does it need to be half an hour? bit of a chore in the winter!

not a chore in the winter as the aircon can be on while the heater is set to warm

I found KwikFit really good for my aircon service, They charged £44

They take the temperature at the vents at the start and at the end and if they havent got it colder by at least 3 C they dont charge you

They hook it up to a machine that takes all the gas out and then does a leak test and then refills it
The machine does all this by its self

They got mine blowing at 2C !! from 7.5

I never turn the air con off.

Ensures the windows don't mist up in the cool wet weather.

No, I beleive it still de-humidifies the incoming air. Certainly if one switches on the demist function the aircon comes on even if switched off

I think that there is a difference now in the thinking, On earlier car we had a clutch that engaged when the air con was on, now the compressor runs all of the time, this way the seals dont dry out,or deform, and it was this reason the air con had to be run once a month in winter
