Air Con Not working

Hi
Just wondering if anybody can help,just spent £2346.00 on my 1999 C200 Esprit for ECU + service and the air con compressor is not kicking in,I have heard that sometimes a re-gas puts it right does anybody know if that is true or am I looking at a new compressor (hope not!)

As I understand it, there is a safety switch in the system that won't allow the compressor to be activated if there is no gas in the system. It could be that.

Which is usually a sign of a leak.........expensive!!

Obvious question & easiest overlooked, is the aircon turned on?

It could need regassing, which would point to a leak, favourite on the c class is the condensor in front of the radiator, but checking the ac is switched on and not in economy mode and the fan is running etc. I would normally re-gas and add a dye to see where the leak is coming from, if it's not obvious i'd remove the front crossmember and ease the radiator and condensor apart and look down between the two, if no leak seen here i'd use and see if the gas dissapears (even a leak free system will lose it's charge eventualy) Has your system ever worked? has it stopped working since the service and ecu (could be the ecu hasn't been set up properly)

Only just had ECU replaced by the main stealer so I will contact them and see what they have to say,I would have thought they should have checked that and informed me if there was another problem apart from the ECU setup.

Good old Main Stealers, my igition switch was loose, and door strip was not put back properly.
