Bah !

30 degrees today , and my air con packs up. :mad: Been working ok until today.

Booked it in with Olly ( and for my over due A service ) , Olly thinks it is out of gas.

The electronic clutch isn't engaging. Looks like it will be windows down until 9th June .

Should have bought a cabriolet Howard:D

Dont want to lose olly some business but most places have offers on A/C gas servicing now for around £35...
ANy MOT garage etc... they cant really get it wrong, most modern machines are fully automatic..

Id get it done, at least that way, if it leaks out before June, Olly can be prepared with the necessary parts.

I bet the condensor is leaking H.

Thats a cheery thought. Thanks.

No evidence of any damage to it , i looked . Also , it was working one day and not the next. I've not been anywhere to have debris puncture the thing ?

Its not easy to see damage to a condensor.. It could just be low gas though as below a certain pressure the system will shut itself down.

Thats what i'm hoping.

The clutch isn't engaging.

yes if low pressure it wont let the clutch engage to stop it frying the system.

hence why i say have it "gassed" and see if it leaks out by the time you reach ollys

Oh i see now . :o

If the gas is gone by 9th June , then we know something is properly wrong with the system ?

Does your 430 have the digital climate Howard?

You can read the refrigerant pressure through the panel if so in diagnostic mode. Will also show the fault code(s) IIRC, although I'm with Olly and it's almost certainly going to be low pressure due to lost gas (normally due to a leaking condensor)

I have a new/spare 208/202 condensor sitting around if you need one, but there's a couple of different pipe layouts so would need to check fitment for you if so.

Will

Legend .

Yes , it has the digital climate , and i've been looking for your thread on how to interogate it , but can't find it.

You have PM Will.

Hi,
I found this info may be of some help to you, though how to clear fault codes isn,t there i,m afraid.

Press and hold the the REST button for close to ten seconds and a diagnostic can be performed.

Here's what the codes represent:
01 = In-car temp sensor
02 = outside temp sensor
03 = left heat exchanger (heater core) temp sensor
04 = right heat exchanger sensor
05 = evaporator sensor
06 = coolant temp
07 = refrig. pressure in bar
08 = refrig temp sensor (23*9 = 23.9deg C)
09 = nothing
10 = Blower control voltage (great for evaluating blower controller problems)
11 = emissions sensor (B31) e.g. 3.1 = 31.v
12 = sun sensor 4.2 = 4.2v
20 = aux fan control 6.1 = 6.1ma (max 10ma)
21 = engine speed
22 = vehicle speed
23 = Circuit 58d e.g. 99 = 99% of battery voltage
24 = BATTERY VOLTAGE e.g. 12.5 = 12.5v
30 = left rear air conditioning heat exchanger temp sensor (not all vehicles; obviously)
31 = right side
32 = rear evap temp sensor
33 = blower control voltage rear 0.8(MIN) - 6.0(MAX)
34 = left rear temp selector
35 = right side
38 = software status e.g. 37 rear air conditioning
40 = control module version software status (?)
41 = control module version menu hardware status
42 = control module variant code 1st number
43 = variant code second number.

Ok, air con regassed .

Thank you Kwik Fit Richmond. We'll see what happens.

I'm not sure it works like that.

The guarantee that it will be colder afterwards ( and it is ) , if however there is a hole in the condensor and the gas comes out , i don't think that would be covered.

It is covered.

A friend of mine had his system refilled and within a couple of days it was empty again. There was obviously a leak in the system that their Aircon regassing unit could not detect, so the refunded the money.

Any system would pump out cold air straight after a refill regardless of the fact that there is a hole in the system somewhere.

Thanks to Andy for the tips on the REST button and diagnostic info

My air conditioning is blowing warm. I was about to start playing with my Duo Valve, then I saw his post.

I can now see the prime suspect is zero refrigirant pressure!

I'll try a Kwik Fit Re Charge! £49

Hi,
You might still have to get the system plugged into STAR to reset the system, but get it recharged first by Kwik-fit, when they fill it and test it it still won,t work and they can,t charge you, then get it reset by STAR, there is a way of reseting it via the Menu system but I can,t remember at the moment though i feel sure I have it written down somewhere.
