Do the little pictures on the face level air vents light up when you put your lights on?

Only noticed this evening (as I had closed them this morning) that could not see them in the dark  Shows how much I get to drive the car :(

As none of them work, I am thinking something more difficult than just blown bulbs??

Will check fuses unless any of the more knowledgeable folk here know better

Mate is it a W210 E-Class and are you talking about the thumb wheels for the dash vents?

The bulbs are tiny and most likely are all blown (were in mine). It's a bit of hassle getting the dash off (you need to take off the entire centre console to get the centre one but it's easier than it sounds).

If it is a W210 and it's the dashboard thumb wheels lights (the little white line) that is not lit, then yes, they are all meant to light up with the headlights swicthed on. The light in the ashtray is due to a fuse, however, and it most likely is also not working in your car.

So how easy is it to replace the passenger side vent bulb?

Mine has blown and its getting on my nerves.

Open the passenger door and use the flat head of a screw driver to pry off the cover you see.

When that's off, undo the screws, and take off the wood strip along the dash - it covers over another screw.

The vent itself will be obvious and is in two parts that clip together in a V shape, with each prong being one of the vent directions. It can be fiddly getting it to fit back in but it's doable. WHen the vent arms come out (maybe it's more like a Y really, as one is longer and the other just sort of sits on top) you'll see the clip for the bulb.

This may sound meaningless and reading it back it sort of does, but if you take off the cover on the passenger side door first and then the wood strip you'll see what I mean.

Thanks for that MB240, yes it is a W210.

Getting the centre console out looks not to hard, any top tips though.

Cant quite see how to get the centre cubby out. Saw a video of somebody doing it on another thread where they put their hand up underneath and just released a clip. Have not got that on mine though??

Just for future help on this, there is no need to remove the complete air vent or, wooden strip. When the top speaker cover is removed, also remove the plastc part that guides the air to the side window, then you can access the light bulb. It is not that difficult to get back in, although you might think so.
