This and that.
Right then. I've just the the climate control in the W124 regassed. It was at 200rams, but capacity is 1000. There's no sign of a leak, and there was UV dye in the system. Passed pressure test (twice) and vacuum test (twice).

Then I was told that there's no live feed to the compressor. If you introduce a live feed, the compressor kicks in. The HP and LP switches are fine, as are the relevant fuses, and the rest of the system is OK.

I need to get the car on a diagnostic machine. Will there be one at Jay's GTG in June? Unless anyone has any ideas as to the problem.

When I jumped in the car just now, it was blowing very cold. Why would it do that if the compressor's not running?

TIA

PJ

might be a dodgy wire... we do have a diagnostics kit, but this sounds like it may be down to old fashioned fault finding...

Ill be happy to read the codes for you though..

there will be a couple of star machines floating around too!

I think the compressor is switched via a relay so it might be worth taking the relay out and checking it out. Could be knackered or just dry joints etc.

How do you check a relay? :o

Can I run a meter across it?

How do you check a relay? :o

In most cases you will find that some of the relays in the fuse box are identical to one another......if this is the case test any 'suspect' relays by swapping it with one of its 'identical' neighbours. (check the numbers/data on the relay casings match first)

i had same problem on my c280 w202,sent for a recharge, dye, presure tested etc, then they said no live feed, but it turned out that if its below 6-7 degrees it wont come on as its a fail safe (so i was told)
anyway they done the same put a temp live feed and it kicked in,so we decided to leave it,and as soon as the weather got warmer she fired up:bannana:
dont no if this would be your problem or not as they regassed etc a couple of months ago for me when weather was colder(6-7degrees)
