Alarm Siren

Does anyone know if my 97 T210 E300TD Avantgarde has a separate siren for the Anti-Theft Alarm, or should it operate the horns (fanfare !)? When the alarm is trigered the hazards flash but there is no siren. The horn works fine, when used normally.

It depends what alarm system you have fitted!

If it's the standard MBSS, I think it's a separate siren ... which IIRC can be disabled at the control box (using a key, I think).

Yeah, it's the standard MB factory fitted one, with interior and tow sensors. Any idea where the control box is located?

In the engine bay, I would guess high up and fairly accessible. Someone with an E class might chime in.

PS, MBSS was a UK add-on (rather than being factory fit) on my '97 SL.
