Alpine Sat Nav

Hi

I have just fitted a double din head unit to my 2001 S Class with no problems after removing my command unit

I got the facia panel from dynamic sounds in London made by connect2

Only negatives if they are negatives is that I have lost the steering wheel controls and the nav on the instrument cluster but with a much more modern 3d nav and DVD, digital tv, Bluetooth and iPod on the head unit I think it's better

Only thing I'm not pleased about is losing the time clock on the cluster as the command controls it. It did stay on after the change albeit that I couldn't set it but I also put a new battery in the car and now the whole time clock has disappeared. Not the end of the world as I have a clock on the main sat nav screen on the head unit

I could put the command back in and set the clock before refitting the new head unit and I may at some point

Pretty sure your clock can be fixed by some adjustments made via STAR. That's what I was told anyway as I am in the process of looking to upgrade my audio in the SL.

Hi, I had an double din Kenwood satnav upgrade to my SL 230 and the clock wouldn't work so I took it to my local indy to put it on STAR and they told me they couldn't do it, they advised me to go to command in Lightwater surrey and they fixed the clock no problem, the only thing that pi**ed me off was that it cost £50 to put the clock right.

Hi

It's going into mercedes leicester on Wednesday so I will ask them then to set the time on it

Thanks

Hi I have had double din upgrades in clk's and c class's and you can buy steering wheel control wiring from Dynamic Sounds, not sure about the S class but worth a call. I will have the same problem as you with the clock but like you I can live with that. I think these systems far outweigh the loss of a clock and the outdated command. a And there's a clock on the satnav.
