Alternator

Hi
New to this forum,request some assistance in terms of accessing the alternator on SLK230 with a view to remedying the problem of constant battery drain. Have had the battry checked and was advised by the local Tec that the alternator may be the culprit. Any advise will be greatly appreciated with a view to either replacing or firstaid, thanks in advance

I vaguely remember an issue where the instrument panel remained permanently illuminated due to some component not going to 'sleep' after locking the car resulting in a flat battery..........have a look at the odometer/clock display after locking the car and check that it goes blank after a short while.

Alternators can cause a battery to discharge due to faulty diodes allowing the battery to discharge thru the windings.
