Please can anyone advise me on how to adjust, or preferably switch off, the ambient interior lighting on my W211 E500.

I have only had the car 1 week and I am loving every aspect, except the ambient lighting that comes on when I switch the headlights onto full.

Any help for a newbie would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If you go into one of the menus via the settings on the instrument cluster you can do it there

Of course this is explained in the manual too. If you don't have one, either purchase from and MB dealer or download the US version as a pdf.

The rear ambient light is adjusted from the buttons at the lamp itself.

Select the 'settings' menu on the instrument cluster and then use the up or down arrow to select the lighting menu. In a sub menu is the 'ambient lighting' adjustment with levels 0 to 5 (max) use the +/- buttons to adjust to the required level.

Took me a while to work that one out too! bloody things! :wallbash: lol

thanks for the help everyone.

as part of my learning curve I have also discovered that the manuals for the car or hidden in the rear seats arm rest

I too have this problem. I have dimmed what I thought was the abient lighting through the dash controls, but the rear lights still glow like a UFO!

Did you try post #3 from this thread?

yeah the rear one is done by the button on the unit itself. NOTE: You have to press and HOLD the button for sometime before it starts to change the setting.

Can someone confirm to me that the buttons on this control panel should light up at night as they do on the front overhead console?

Cheers

David

Wish mine did! Need to explore some fuses I think.
