AMG 55 Engine swap?

Hi Guys,

Heres a good one which i could do with some help with, I have an option on buying a 55 engine complete with V8 kompresser out of a 02 55 SL AMG.

Heres the problem how difficult would it be to fit the engine into either CLK 320 04 Cab Auto (mine i have already fitted the AMG CLK 55 upgrade Calipers and discs also the twin AMG exhaust) or a SL 350 53 auto (my brothers without any brake upgrade).

Has anybody tried to do this or is it a complete non starter any info would be helpful or a point in the right direction would be great.

I have the details of a guy in east london who has put a 55K engine in a W202 C43, send me a PM and I will send you his details.

Depends if the engine is complete with the wiring loom, ECUs and gearbox. If thats all there then you should budget at least £2-3k+ to fit.

If not then don't bother as the other parts will end up costing you ££££s! I've looked into a conversion of this sort before and its not worth it unless you undertake the work yourself. And then you have other things such as suspension to worry about, and the brakes won't be able to cope as the CLK 55 has about 370bhp and a SL55 has significantly more.

SL55 Engine Swap

Thanks for the info Mambo the engine is up for £1,500.00 - £1,700.00 need to try a bit of argy bargy on the price. Not sure how much it is all going to cost in the end.
