Sorry for the plea but I have a problem.

I've got a CLK 500 and want to add the steering wheel gear changers. I've acquired all the bits (steering wheel, TCM, gear shift and M/C/S switch) and with the expertise of a superb Mercedes Technician, almost have it working except for a small problem.

The TCM was from a 2003/2004 CLK55 but Mercedes sent some software that they said would code it for a CLK500. Unfortunately it didn't, all it did was erase the TCM and now we have progressed to the point that we need to re-encode the TCM before applying adaptation (I think that is the word) for my gearbox.

Now my technician on this project works for a main dealer and has had the unit waiting for an AMG CLK55 of the correct years to come through the door but unfortunately, after just over a month, nothing!

So, does anyone in Kent have an AMG CLK55 that can be “borrowed” so we can encode the TCM?

Its been a few months now but no offers so far! I should point out that all the Technician needs to do is plug my TCM into the doner Clk AMG55 to update the code on it so we can come to the car if required?

Help still required

I've got to still ask, but is anyone able to help by allowing the Mercedes technician to re-program my transimmission control module with their MY 2003 CLK55?

Why don't you try finding one in your area on Autotrader then asking the seller if would oblige for perhaps a small payment?

On tother hand they might think your trying to skim their key details etc and will come back late at night and rob their car.

You could always take your MB Tech with you under the pretext of buying said car and just say he needs to plug his STAR in to check 'history and faults etc'

Thanks but I've been looking since October and none have come up close enough. I certainly wouldn't try and hide what the technician is doing from anyone hence asking on this forum.

I've found two cars so far and both owners have said no so I have to respect their wishes!
