Just stick to the standard tyre sizes but go for a premium winter tyre from late September until early May. That’s a longer period than a normal tyre, but the Cup 2 has a shorter usable window, which extends the period for the winter tyre.

Probably not relevant to your search given the reply is many months later but I fitted continental sport contact 7s to my e93 m3 last week. Put it this way, the temperature was at the 0c point when I got in the car, the tyres hadn't had a chance to lose the outer coating, engine was warm so I put my foot down and literally no loss of grip and only a minor flash on the esp at around 7k revs for a flash only and then they took whatever abuse was thrown at them with no slip. The dry grip in the cold is better than the worn out pirellis in the summer! I can't make it up. They're mind blowing. Since then I've been hammering the car in the cold weather and they're simply incredible. Steering feel is better than the mp4s , grip is better, they're just better in the cold and dry. Haven't had a chance to see how they perform in the wet but early impressions are they're a step up from the mp4s I used to have on my e46m3 and the front tyres on my w212 e63 s.hated the rubbery steering feel on the michelins and though there's a slight rubbery feeling on these, it's not as apparent and the steering turn in seems sharp and the weird off centre steering geometry I was struggling with before seems to have been cured , those pirellis were quite worn on the insides to the legal limit so maybe a brand new tyre would feel better.
Love the contis and they're so much cheaper ! Will test out in the wet soon no doubt !
