AMG Hammer

I remember seeing one of these in CAR magazine years and years ago, it was pitted against an Alpina BMW 7 series. Stunning looking car.
 
As much as I like W124, but it looks old'ish to me...Taxi leather, no airbag steering wheel, ugly 1st monoblocks.

I would rather take 500E.

Great car, genuine article, perfect colour and good value as well.

You won't find a bigger supporter of me than w124 500e's....but frankly, a Hammer will annihilate the 500e in almost every respect....driveability, acceleration, top speed...the 5.6/6.0 Hammers will run rings around a 500e.

The 500e is a refined piece - before shoving a V8 in, Mercedes went back to the drawing board and re-engineered a significant amount of the car. AMG just literally 'hammered' in the V8 and it's gearbox/diff....very crudely, but the results were better than the factory V8 w124.

You can buy at least three 500e's for that money, but this will give more pleasure than the sum total of them, guaranteed !

Totally agree with the comments above and would add that the Hammer is totally raw, whereas the 500E is refined and clinical....the Hammer you take by the scruff of the neck and give it a good kicking.
 
That Hammer has been on sale for quite some time, but if it was a choice between a 500E or the AMG, I would have that AMG anyday... then save up some more and convert the interior to 500E spec! :)
 
If I lived in the States I'd buy that car tonight, absolute beast and a teenage dream :)
