amg sl55 indicator stalk

Hi All
Need to start a few repairs on my amg sl55.
First job is to replace the broken indicator stalk, any info or help would be much appreciated in removing the steering wheel as I ma being told to disconnect both Batteries !

That's cos you're messing with the airbag......
And the SRS will log a code that you will need a good scanner/Star to reset.

Thanks for your time chaps and the info. Not tackling this for a while so just need to understand more of what needs to be done.
