Android Auto prevents access to CD Player and other media.

The car is a W166 GLE 2017/18 model. The CD player and other media, SD card etc. can be used either via the on screen menu or console push buttons only if Android Auto is not running/connected. If AA is running the console push buttons have no effect and if I exit AA and return to the MB screen the Media options of CD and other media have disappeared from the on screen menu. I'm baffled and wonder if this is normal behaviour and have to say that apart from Waze the rest of AA leaves me pretty cold. If you can shed any light, your comments would be most welcome.

Sounds pretty much the same as carplay.
When you exit the only options you get are radio, settings, or return to carplay.
Can’t select the ‘onboard’ nav, phone or media.
