Hi all my name is Dan and I have been a member of the forum for a few months now. I have to say that reading through the old threads has helped me to sort out probs with my car that I would have previously had to pay for:thumb:

On to my problem. I purchased a 95 c180 Elegance with 80,000 miles, one owner and full service history etc. The car really was and is in outstanding condition. The only problem that had been addressed by previous owner was the immobiliser/ alarm system rear view mirror. Don't know the exact cause but early 2008 he had purchased and fitted a brand new rvm from Mercedes. I know this because I have the receipt for the part and work.

Until recent the system had worked fine but last Saturday I got off the train and went to start my car and it turned but wouldn't fire. I took a trip to a nearby garage and got some new bats for the fob key. Tried again and the same so I noted down the symptoms...

Usually when I lock the car via the single button on the fob. I get a red light flash once on the mirror and drivers door handle. This isn't the case any more. The central locking works and the car locks as usual just without the red light. When I open the car I get a green light flash on mirror and door handle once. Put the key in ignition and turn car over as usual. With this it doesn't fire and I get a flashing green light on mirror and handle and at no time do I see a red light.

With this in mind I purchased a Mirror from dronsfields - all tested and guaranteed etc. Got it this morning and changed mirrors and I am still in the same situation. Still no red light. I am about to remove door lock sensor to see if cleaning connection will get this red led working. I don't know maybe I am missing something and the fact that I have tried 2 mirrors (original one being nearly new from Mercedes at only 16 months old) is something that I am finding quite significant.

Sorry for repeating myself a bit above - I just want to give you guys as much info as I can about the problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice!:)

ps. I have the alarm switched off via the key/engine bay box thing :)

Hi Dan,

More expert peeps will be along, but how old is your main battery?

I know that on a Golf 2, the alarm would act up if the battery wasn't in good condition.

Hi there,

Thanks for your response. :thumb:

The battery was purchased in July 2007 so is just over 2 years old.

is your ecu siemens? you need to programm some eeprom in ecu to make IMMO OFF , and then cut the wire that ecu receive signal about key.
